In our new ASK China Simplified series, we set out to answer some of the many cultural questions that pop up in our daily conversations.

After reading our How to Choose a Chinese Name post, Liz Fields asked the CS Team to give her a Chinese name!

Katie, our resident Chinese translation and language expert chose the following:

费伊白 (fèi yī bái)

Surname: Fei
Given name: Yi Bai

Reason:
Surname “Fei” sounds like “Fields”
Given name “Yi Bai” sounds like “Elizabeth”
“yi” means soft, sweet in personality, used to describe women
“bai” means white, it’s always been the symbol for pure and clean

To which Liz wrote back saying, “I love the name, thank you so much!”
